Investment casting

Investment castings are all about to meet the most challenging customers' requirements. Precise and detailed. Tolerances can be as tight as 0,1mm on small castings and up to 0,5% from nominal value on bigger castings. We  cast wide range of steel, stainless steel and bronze investment castings.

We supply ready to fit parts. Usually, investment castings require further processing such as machining and surface treatment procedures. Our advance machine shop and large network of surface treatment suppliers can guarantee we can meet any need of our customers.

Dimensional and surface tolerances

What can we achieve by our investment casting technology.

Our precision castings weight range between 0.1 kg and 15 kg.

Tolerance class 1 according to STN EN ISO 8062-3: 2007 Tolerance classes D1, D2, D3 according to VDG P690

Precision casting ALLOYS

Material properties and characteristic are selected for each casting individually, depending on its application.

In casting process, we melt and mix different materials to make the best alloy for your project. Wide range of alloys we cast will suit any application. Our engineers will help you to choose the right alloy.

Materiály

  • Austenitic/stainless steel
  • Feritic and martensitic steel
  • Duplex steel
  • Bronzes

Heat treatments

Investment casting finishing.

Raw castings are considered as parts cut off from feeding system, blasted of ceramics and quality inspected. they can be further processed or used as raw. Typically, majority of investment casting are heat treated. Heat treatment is thermal process of altering physical properties of casting.

By using right heat treatment your product will achieve required mechanical properties to suit your aplication

Machining

Mechanical processing of investment castings is done by our advanced machine shop in-house.

Our aim is to deliver ready to fit castings to our customers. Our advanced machine shop contains wide range of CNC centers, turning centers and grinding machines. Some of our customers are using our assembly center, where castings after machining are assembled and delivered to customer as ready to install units.

3D Printing

Prototyping has never been easier. With the growing possibilities of additive manufacturing, we can deliver prototypes for your trials in no time.

Based on your step file, we are able to print wax patterns without building permanent mold. Wax pattern 3D printing technology is saving time and brings cost effective solution for development stage in every project.

Surface treatments

Many appliances require precision castings with surface treatment due to environment. Surface treatment operations:

  • nickel plating
  • zinc plating
  • polishing
  • powder lacquering
  • lacquering
  • other, if necessary

Doing business with us

First contact

Please send us enquiry by clicking on contact formular. Basic request for quotation should contain drawing, step file and predicted annual volume per casting. Our team will confirm receiving documents within the same day. Calculation and price proposal are based on feasibility study. In most cases price proposal will be handed out within 3 working days.

Development partner

We understand the complexity of developing optimal solution for customers appliances. Business environment is extremely competitive, and our role is to support customers with know-how and expertise. Rapid changes in technologies are fueling unprecedented challenges in casting development. Complex shapes, thin walls and advanced materials.

Quality management

To make sure we deliver quality castings to our customers, complex quality management process is taking place at our foundry. Quality inspection includes wide range of non-destructive and destructive testing methods. Based on customers requirements our engineers will set up control plan for each casting individually.

Typical testing methods:

  • spectral analysis of metal alloy
  • mechanical properties test
  • metallographic testing
  • RTG
  • crack tests by magnetic testing
  • crack tests by color penetration testing
  • 3D measuring by Carl Zeiss
  • other special tests

PROCESS

Wax model

Wax model making and assembly. To make a casting, first we must produce its positive wax copy using injection moulding tools. Such wax models are then adhered to a runner system and thus form what is called a tree.

1

Ceramic shell

Ceramic shell making. The trees are first dipped in a slurry, a mixture of special bonding agents and ceramic sands, and then sanded. This process is repeated 6 to 10 times. The tree must dry for some time between two coatings.

2

Dewax

Dewax and ceramic shell firing. After the ceramic shells have dried, hot pressurised steam is used to remove the wax from the ceramic shell. Then, the empty shell is fired in an annealing furnace at approx. 1,100 °C. Now the shell is sufficiently strong and ready for the casting.

3

Casting

Casting. The molten metal is poured directly into the annealed shells. This is where we are able to assure high surface quality and dimensional precision.

4

Shell removal

Shell removal, and cutting away and finalisation of castings.

5

Mechanical processing and assembly

Casting are separated from the runner system and undergo further heat treatment and machining according to customer's wishes.
